On August 12, 2007 the NY Times published and article about the formerly considered “most dangerous place on earth,” Medellin, Columbia. A place that Bibian Gomez, a local resident, remarked “You couldn’t step outside. Whenever you saw a young guy on a motorcycle you thought that he was an assassin.” In the past decade the mayor of Medellin, Sergio Fajardo, raised the standard of public architecture and “construct[ed] libraries and innovative parks in neglected neighborhoods.
